Sifola Palace

17th century

One of the oldest families once present in the city, in 1259 Federico Sifola, together with Cola Palagano, was knighted by King Manfred for escorting Princess Helena from Epirus, who became the King's bride in the castle of Trani. There are many members of the family who distinguished themselves in the Kingdom of Naples over the centuries. Ascribed to the Sedile di San Marco, they had tombs - still visible today - in San Francesco, in Santa Chiara and in the hypogeum of San Leucio in the Cathedral. Another palace of the Sifola family was located in today's Via Prologo, sold to the Bonismiro, then bought back in 1753 to be later resold to the Feliu and later to the Prologo.
