Holy Saviour Church - Chapel of the Eucharistic Miracle

18th century

According to tradition, a woman extraneous to the Christian faith, doubting the authentic presence of Christ in the consecrated Host, conceived a plan. She had a Eucharist delivered from the church of St Andrew. In an attempt to fry it, the Eucharist turned into bloody flesh and blood spilled out. The woman's screams at the sight of the blood caused the Christian community to rush in, amazed at such a miraculous event. Informed of the event, the bishop intervened promptly, recovering the remains of the Particle and organizing a procession of reparation. In 1706, thanks to the initiative of noble Ottaviano Campitelli, the house became the Church of the Holy Saviour. On the façade, the Campitelli coat of arms. Today, the Holy Particle is kept in the church of St. Andrew.
